A jolt, one sudden push,
He woke up panting and sweating.
His throat all dried up,
Body as cold as ice.
A not so good dream, he dreamt,
Possibly the worst nightmare.
Even in the dark, he could see,
The mirror reflecting his ghastly drained face.
A headache as severe as it could be,
His racing heart didn’t help either.
All hopes and dreams were in question,
With this recurring nightmare.
His past seemed to chase him,
Making unsure of his future.
A warm hug from behind,
Unexpected, he did receive.
Saw his better half clinging to him,
As she uttered softly,
“Are you OK?”
Recognizing her sweet scent,
Those tender fingers,
And possibly the strongest assurance,
He turned and kissed her softly.
Dried lips, sweaty hands,
Shivering body, all gone.
Knowing he still had her,
In this present, he was at relief,
And said, “I am now, love.”
