Tears rolled down her eyes. Her heart tried to burst out of her chest. Stomach got sucked into a black hole. She almost felt like throwing up. Her mind went all blank when thought about her world without him. There was no more world for her. Just only devastation and chaos. Her hands and feet were frozen and refused to budge even a single inch.
“Why did I say that? I shouldn’t have said that. Oh god! No. I definitely shouldn’t have said that.”
She kept saying that to herself. Her body became numb. The whole air surrounding her became cold. She kept cursing herself for saying that to him. She was angry. Furious beyond compare at that time. She couldn’t restrain her words and just let it out. And now he was gone.
“Gone? … No …. Wait …. Please wait. Don’t go …. Please stop.”
She ran after him. Chased him down the stairs, all the way from her fourth floor to the ground one. She saw him walking slowly. Away from her. It pained her chest again and she felt all dizzy. No way in hell, she could give up now. She caught hold of him.
“Please … Stop …. Don’t … leave me …. I am … sorry.”
She said in breaking words gasping for breath. With a slipper missing on her left leg, sweat dangling on her eyebrows, teary eyes and red cheeks, she stared at him hoping for him to hear her out. He turned back and glared at her unemotionally. She continued,
“I am sorry. Please, don’t leave. I know I told you to get lost but please hear me out. I was just mad at you. Didn’t mean it at all. Never thought you would walk out. How dare you? You left because I said something in anger? Is that all? Why? How could you? I mean….”, she paused her rambling only to notice that he was smiling.
“What the bloody hell is so funny? Why are you smiling? Where do you think you are going?”
He took a deep breath and sighed, “I was just going to get you an ice cream. Strawberry. Your favorite right?”
“What?”, she asked, not able to get her head around what he just said.
“You were really angry. So I was going to get you something to cool that stupid head of yours”, he said smirking and running his hand through his hair.
“You thought I was leaving you. Didn’t you?” he asked her looking at her upheaval state.
“No….”, she denied instantly and then nodded softly, “Yes.”
He hugged her tightly and she felt like she was reborn from the burning pits of hell itself. He gently whispered in her ear,
“You can’t get rid of me. Even if you kill me, I’ll still haunt you. Remember that. Always, remember that.”
After a small pause, enough to feel her raging heartbeat, he made another statement,
“You. Are. Mine.”
